Fitness and appearance can be different motivations
You may want to feel stronger, return to an activity or change an aspect of your body. Naming your motivation helps you choose how to approach it. None of these goals requires promises about changes that cannot be predicted.
Appearance depends on several factors. Greater strength does not always produce visible change, and a photograph does not establish the effect of a programme.
What the training materials describe
The Academy describes a focus on the gluteal muscles, quadriceps and other muscles around the hips and thighs. It mentions isometric contractions and a specific frequency range. This is information about how the programme works.
It does not establish how much muscle a person will gain, how their measurements will change or when they will see a result. Such promises require specific evidence.
How this differs from pelvic floor training
Using the same equipment does not make the goals equivalent. Working the buttocks and thighs does not establish that urine leakage or intimate discomfort is being treated. Programme choice should reflect the agreed goal.
If continence is your main interest, start with urine leaks. For the equipment’s different approaches, read what PelviX is for.
Deciding whether it fits your goals
Ask which area is intended to be activated, what result is reasonable to monitor and how this relates to your usual activity. Also confirm whether this programme is part of the service available at PelviCR.
Contraindications still need reviewing when the goal is appearance. The suitability guide summarises the starting point.
Frequently asked questions
Does SHAPE eliminate localised fat?
It should not be presented as a guarantee of fat loss.
Does training the glutes treat incontinence?
One cannot be inferred from the other. They are different goals requiring their own assessment.
